My training as an MHC history major gave me knowledge, confidence, and courage.
Professional artists, professors, and students revealed touching anecdotes and inspiring stories as speakers for the first annual Five College Art Conference (#FCAC2018) held at 69ƷƵ College. The brainchild of sophomore Yuchen “Angel” Xiang ’20, this conference allowed disparate groups of people to commune together and share their passion for art.
I was introduced to the field of environmental governance and policy and made important connections.
“When I served on the admissions committee at University of Michigan, the students who stood out and succeeded were those who had research experience and a clear sense of what they were getting into.”
My thesis looked at neural signatures in auditory imagery by using poetry, specifically limericks.
My Arabic skills, writing experience in Cairo, and digital media training in the Five Colleges prepared my graduate foundation.
“I liked the opportunity to take the time to think about who I am and what would make a job or internship really valuable to me,” said Fernandez-Dieguez. “Before I work on finding a job, I want to know I’m headed in the right direction. The session was a time for introspection, and I got to hear other student’s insights, too.”
